
Laboratory testing:
SAS is equipped with its own control laboratory wich tests the quality
of raw materials and finished products.
Concrete components:
SAS uses only crushed marble or quarry aggregates and white and grey
high-resistant Portland cement type 42,5 R.
Measurement tolerance:
±1mm in thickness, collection boxes and planters (±5mm
in height).
Weight tolerance:
±5% of the catalogue weight, tested with a totally dry product.
Colorants:
Metal oxides.
SAS products are made using 3 large groups
of concrete:
White concrete / Grey concrete / Washed concrete
Density:
White concrete: 2.100 / 2.225 kg/m3 Grey concrete: 2.125
/ 2.250 kg/m3
Washed concrete: 2.100 / 2.250 kg/m3
Resistance to compression:
White concrete: 400 kp/cm2 Grey concrete: 454 kp/cm2 Washed
concrete: 265 kp/cm2
Water absorption:
White concrete: 4.2% of weight Grey concrete: 4.8% of weight Washed
concrete: 4.3% of weight
Freeze-resistant:
Our products are all tested according to the German DIN 52 104-Z standard
(the most stringent one), as follows:
No visible effect of chipping, fissures, cracks, etc. was observed
after fifty freeze-thaw cycles. Freezing cycles: the temperature in
the chamber is allowed to drop to -15º C in 4 hours and is maintained
there for a further 2 hours. The product is then steeped in water
at temperature of 15º C. These tests were carried out by our laboratory
and endorsed by the officially-approved "MATERIAL-PRÜFUNGSAMT
NORDRHEINWESTFALEN". Laboratory of Dortmund. SAS products have
been tested by the University of Sheerbrooke in Quebec (Canada) according
to the ASTMC-666/A norm as follows: after 300 cycles of freezing–de-frosting,
(-50º C), the (V/Vo)2 average is 96 % while this norm settles a minimum
of 60 %.
Static resistance:
Our Balusters (Serie-650 together with the Rail RBR-50 and the Classic
Pier PBR-770) fulfil the ETB static resistance regulations Fassung
June 1985: 3.1 (lateral static resistance), 3.2.2 (light blow) and
3.2.3 (strong blow). This has been certified by the German laboratory
MPA in Dortmund.
Durability:
If SAS products are fitted and positioned correctly, used for the
purpose for which they were designed and correctly maintained, they
will prove highly durable.
These tests were carried out at our laboratory and checked by the
Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Governement) approved laboratory
PAYMA, S.A. in MONTCADA (Barcelona).
